The location complement 在
There are some cases when 在 is stated after a verb and acts as a complement of the location.

Location complements (处所补语) follow verbs to indicate the location that the action of the verb leads to.
We use as a location complement when a person or object ends up in a certain place as a result of an action. It should be placed after certain verbs that are closely tied to the idea of a location. For example: We should put adverbial modifiers of place after these verbs.

You can't use location complements other verbs that don't imply motion towards something. Instead, we use 在 as a preposition. It should be placed before the adverbial modifiers of place. For example, we cannot say: 我买东西在超市 There is only one way to say it correctly:
