大概 can be both an adverb and an adjective.
The adverb 大概 has two meanings.
1) "probably".
Examples
我生病了,明天大概不会来上课
I'm sick, so I may not come to class tomorrow
wǒ shēngbìng le, míngtiān dàgài bú huì lái shàngkè
他大概在我们医院最有经验的医生
He is probably the most experienced doctor in our hospital
tā dàgài zài wǒmen yīyuàn zuì yǒu jīngyàn de yīshēng
Pay attention
An adverb is placed before the predicate. The predicate can also be preceded by a preposition, such as 在 , 把 or 被 . In this case, the adverb is placed before the preposition.
2) "approximately", "briefly".

wǒ dàgài míngbái le yào zuò shénme
医院离这儿大概有五百米
It's about 500 metres from here to the hospital
yīyuàn lí zhèr dàgài yǒu wǔbǎi mǐ
The adjective 大概 means "approximate, general". It is usually followed by the particle 的 .
