The structure 因为…而…
“Because of…”
We use the structure to express cause and effect. Sentences with this pattern are complex sentences. They have one subject and two predicates that relate to the subject. The first predicate should express the cause. The second predicate should express the effect.

Pay attention
The first predicate can be expressed as either a verb, a verb phrase, an adjective or a noun. The second predicate cannot be expressed by a noun.

我们因为迟到受到批评
We were criticized for being late
wǒmen yīnwèi chídào ér shòudào pīpíng
因为激动变得很健谈
She gets very talkative when she's excited
tā yīnwèi jīdòng ér biàn de hěn jiàntán
Sometimes 因为 can be shortened to 因 to make sentences shorter and more succinct.
