The conjunction 要不是
The conjunction 要不是 
indicates that the result would not have been achieved without someone else's help or if some situation had not occurred.
For example, “without your help, I would not have made it”.
We should state 要不是 at the beginning of the first part of a sentence where we state a situation that happened.
The second part indicates what could have happened if not for the situation mentioned in the previous sentence. It may be either a positive or a negative situation.
