Expressing “temporarily” with 暂时, 临时, and 姑且
All three adverbs are translated as “temporarily”. However, we should use them in different situations.
The adverb 暂时
The adverb 暂时 
has two meanings:

Unfortunately, it’s temporarily out of stock

咱们无论如何暂时不要再提这件事
Let's not mention this at this time

The adverb 临时
The adverb 临时 also has two different meanings:
1) “for a short period of time", " temporarily”.

He just stopped here temporarily for a few days
tā zhǐshì línshí zài zhèr zhù jǐ tiān qù

wǒ línshí juédìng lái àodàlìyǎ
适当的机会来临时，她会抓住的
When the right opportunity comes, she will take it

We also can use the adverb 临时 in the meaning of “sudden”.

I first need to solve this sudden problem
wǒ xiān yào jiějué línshí chūxiàn de wèntí
我临时有事，暂时离开一下
I suddenly had to leave for a while
wǒ línshí yǒu shì, zànshí líkāi yí xià
As an adjective
Sometimes we can use 临时 as an adjective in the meaning of “temporary”.

He is a temporary judge
yóu tā dānrèn línshí fǎguān
他曾被称为临时工
He was once a temporary worker
tā céng bèi chēng wèi línshí gōng
The adverb 姑且
We use the adverb 姑且 to express that an action must be done in a certain way first, even if there are some changes later.
