The structures 尽管…但是/可是…
"Although..., but..."
The structures and are used in the same way. They mean “although..., but...” or “even though...”. In a sentence, the first clause beginning with 尽管 expresses background information, while the second clause beginning with 可是 or 但是 expresses the fact or conclusion you assert.
Examples
尽管这次考试很难,但是很多人都通过了
Despite the difficulty of this exam, many people passed
jǐnguǎn zhè cì kǎoshì hěn nán, dànshì hěnduō rén dōu tōngguò le
If a sentence has two subjects, the first subject is placed after 尽管 and the second subject is placed after 可是 or 但是.

Pay attention
可是 can be shortened to 可. 但是 can be shortened to 但.

Pay attention
可是 is usually associated with negative sentiments. For example: disappointment, frustration, regret, pity, etc.
If both clauses share the same subject, you should state the subject in the first clause, without repeating it in the second clause.
