Expressions like “even stronger”, “even harder” are formed with the help of the adverb 愈 .
It is used to strengthen an adjective, and it is placed before the adjective it strengthens.

The 愈来愈… structure indicates a gradual increase in the emotional degree of a feeling or strengthening of an object’s features.
This structure can be placed before adjectives and verbs with complements.

人们愈来愈担心会重开战火
People’s fear of the resumption of hostilities is increasing
rénmen yù lái yù dānxīn huì chóng kāi zhànhuǒ
火车愈来愈慢,最后完全停了
The train was going slower and slower until it stopped completely

The 愈…愈… structure
The 愈…愈… strcture is similar to 愈来愈…, but it indicates changes due to certain factors.
The factor comes after the first 愈, and the change comes after the second 愈.

The further north they traveled, the colder it got
tāmen yù wǎng běi qù, tiānqì jiù biàn de yù lěng
他愈讲愈起劲
The longer he talked, the more energetic his speech got
