The verbs 希望 and 期望
希望 and 期望 are similar, but they have different meanings.
The verb 希望
The verb emphasizes that a person wishes to achieve a goal or hopes that a certain event will occur.
Examples
希望野餐那天还是晴天
I hope that it will be sunny for the picnic today
wǒ xīwàng yěcān nà tiān háishi qíngtiān
他衷心地希望那是真的
He sincerely hopes that it is true
tā zhōngxīn de xīwàng nà shì zhēnde
我们希望能关于今年第四季度交货达成协议
We are hoping to reach an agreement on the supply in the fourth quarter of this year
wǒmen xīwàng néng guānyú jīnnián dì sì jìdù jiāo huò dáchéng xiéyì
希望 as a noun
希望 also can be a noun “hope”.

The verb 期望
The verb emphasizes that a person wants to meet certain expectations. The verb is often used to talk about expectations from other people.
Examples
女人期望来自她们男人的忠贞
Women expect loyalty from their men
nǚrén qīwàng láizì tāmen nánrén de zhōngzhēn
他们期望自己所有的孩子都大有作为
They expect a lot from their children
tāmen qīwàng zìjǐ suǒyǒu de háizi dōu dàyǒu zuòwéi
期望女儿都温顺听话
He expects that his daughters will be meek and obedient
tā qīwàng nǚ'ér dōu wēnshùn tīnghuà
期望 as a noun
期望 also can be a noun “an expectation”.

Her parents have high expectations for her
