The structure 没有什么好…的
The structure is used in spoken language to emphasize that there is no point in doing something or that a person is worrying about nothing. For example: "I have nothing to hide" or “there's nothing to worry about”.
Pay attention
In this structure, the verb that we want to diminish is placed between 没有什么好 and 的.
We’re notgoing to go there, because there's nothing to do there
There's still time — there's nothing to worry about
hái yǒu shíjiān ne, méi yǒu shénme hǎo jǐnzhāng de
In this structure, 没 can be omitted. In this case, the structure 有什么好…的 becomes a rhetorical question. For example: "What's fun about that?".
Pay attention
Rhetorical questions are questions where an answer is not really expected. It is often used to express indignation or astonishment.
Didn't we buy this dress at a low price? What's there to lose?
zhè jiàn yīfu wǒmen bú shì mǎi le hěn piányi ma, yǒu shénme hǎo kuī de
Take it easy. What's there to be angry about?
bié jīdòng, yǒu shénme hǎo shēngqì de
