spend your time on students, not on pinyin
Classroom already speaks Chinese. Paste a text and pinyin, translations and audio appear. Word lists from more than 70 textbook series are ready, and your students' answers come back to Classroom. You teach; your students reach the goals they set.

why we built Classroom
A teacher should teach, not spend evenings putting materials together. A student should reach the goal they set: start speaking, read, prepare for HSK. Classroom does the part of the prep that needs Chinese: pinyin, translations, audio, textbook words. Your time stays with your students.
where the time goes, and what changes
The lesson text
You add pinyin, translations and audio yourself.
Paste the text, and pinyin above the words, translations on hover and audio appear. Dialogues are voiced by the characters you set up.
Words
You copy words out of the textbook by hand.
More than 4,400 ready word lists from more than 70 textbook series and HSK; you assign them to your class.
Homework
Voice messages and screenshots in your messengers.
Answers come back to Classroom — who submitted, how many answers are right, every answer. Send work back for another try and give a grade.
what your students see
Students open the lesson in the browser, nothing to install: text with pinyin and audio, translations on hover, role-play dialogues, tasks. Lessons from you are free for them. They can also study the words you assign in the Laoshi app, which needs a subscription.

questions
Do students pay?
Not for lessons: lessons from you are free for your students. The Laoshi app for studying words needs a subscription.
Do students need to install anything?
No. They get an email invitation, sign in with that email in the browser and open the lesson.
What happens to my lessons if I don't renew?
Students finish the lessons they've started. You won't be able to create new lessons or classes.
I already subscribe to the Laoshi app. Do I pay again?
No. It's one subscription per account: if you have it in the app, Classroom is already open to you.
Can I build lessons from my own texts?
Yes. Only your class sees the lesson.
Does it work for one-to-one teaching?
Yes, a class can have one student.
Is there video calling?
No. Teach wherever you already do; the lesson and homework live in Classroom.
Are there HSK words?
Yes: word lists for HSK levels and for the New HSK Course textbook, levels 1–4.
